Myopia

When the world looks blurred

Myopia, or short-sightedness, is a common condition. You can see things up close clearly, but objects far away look blurred. It’s usually due to the eyeball being too long, or the front surface of the eye being too curved. Either one of those makes light focus in front of the retina instead of on it.

We slow the progression of myopia using specialised glasses or contact lenses.

It’s important to get your eyes tested regularly, so we can monitor your condition and adjust treatments. That will prevent myopia from worsening, especially in children whose eyes are still developing.

There are also things you can do at home to manage myopia. We encourage doing more outdoors and reducing close work, such as screen time.
